College Pranks

I’m reminded (isn’t the internet wonderful) that we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of the greatest college prank ever, the day Cal Tech students substituted some of their own instructions for the ones designed for a flipcard display at the 1960 Rose Ball game.  They manged to get the University of Washington cheering section to spell out CALTECH.

It turns out there is even an on-line Museum of Hoaxes, which lists this stunt as the greatest college prank of all time.  That same listing also includes the fiendish “Bonsai Kitten” hoax perpetrated by some MIT students.

Yes, we do have hoaxes and pranks at Earlham, but I’m not telling…
