Earlham’s Far-Flung Alumni: John White

August 11, 2010

“I am curious, open to questions, suggestions and ideas and I speak Spanish,” said John White, sounding very much like an Earlhamite.

He has just taken the position of AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in Monmouth (Ill.) as the Hispanic Outreach Coordinator with the University of Illinois Extension Office.

“How can you not go after a job that allows you to do, every day, what you chose to spend your extra time doing for the past four years?”

His goals for the future after AmeriCorps: to be somewhere that “will allow me to use my
language skills and cultural knowledge to foster intercultural understanding in
order to strengthen community life.”

Earlhamites do what they have passion to do.  Read more about John here.
